Building a Fireplace Mantel - Floating Shelf. Fireplace mantel, floating shelf is made form Walnut and has a satin finish on it.
All edges are mitered together. I used glue blocks to assist in clamping the miters instead of tape because it is such a long miter I didn't want to take any chances on the tape breaking before the glue set, or breaking during assembly.
The joints are reinforced with biscuits, and the floating shelf is attached to the wall with a french cleat.
